Conte's Hill Ride ... I survived!

Ok, so my second time riding Conte's Hills went so, so, so, much better!

My first smart idea before the ride was to drive over there instead of riding 10 miles worth of hills before the ride. I picked Jason up at Haines point and off we went to Conte's. The traffic wasn't too bad over there, I guess, and after a little bit of a parking fiasco we found a spot.

Once I got out all my gear, I realized I forgot my helmet. I was pretty pissed at myself because I was already there and I really wanted to do the ride. Luckily Conte's was nice enough to let me borrow one of their helmets! Disaster avoided!

There was a lot of people there yesterday as the first of each month they have food and beer after the ride. I don't know what athlete doesn't like to stuff their face after a workout..so yeah..there was a lot of us there! I ran into Steph, Katie, Emily, and Beth before we started, but I wasn't going to attempt to keep up with them. These girls are fast!  I made sure to stay to the back on the pack of the B group instead. Riding around that many people still scares me and I really didn't want to fall. However, I did see a girl wipe out just a half mile into the ride. It looked like it hurt pretty bad and that made me drop back even more so that I was basically riding by myself. Jason took off in front of me like a hot shot, but I was content to ride slow and my goal was just to finish!

I forgot to start my watch and realized it about 5 miles into the ride. At this point I started it, but then it died, so I really have no clue how slow I was actually going? I guess speed doesn't matter because I finished the ride! I was able to keep up with the group this time, didn't want to throw my bike, and didn't stomp my feet and cry..... Success!!! But, I'm not going to lie, it was still super hard! I don't know if 16 miles of hills and than some more hills will ever really be easy?

And the best part about the ride ... hanging out with friends and eating yummy food afterwards!

Yummy!

Happy Wednesday All!
